Republic Day  : 26 January, 2020 In New Delhi                            Pictured above is Indian National Flag on republic day swimming in air In Indian history, 26 January is known as Republic Day. Republic day is a national gazetted holiday in India. Republic day is a national festival of India. In 2020, Republic day falls on a Sunday. National Holiday  :           As you know that Republic Day is a gazetted holiday in India. All schools,colleges, government works and government offices are closed on Republic Day. Some businesses do not make a holiday and some may reduce their time period of  their duty. What do People do ?                 A lots of people celebrate Republic day as a public ceremony. On  this day, people respect National flag  and National Song singing  the anthem  "Jan Gan Man ..." (In mother language Hindi). People celebrate the Republic Day at  schools,colleges and public places, especially children participate in this program.

Lohri :

 Lohri is a punjabi festival that is famous for folk dance (bhangra) ,folk songs, bonfire and sweets of sugarcane. It marks the end of winter vacation and long warm days.Lohri is celebrated by men and women at a public place in north India like Punjab,Haryana,DElhi,Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu. A lots of time, Lohri comes on 13 January of each year but sometime it comes on 14 January according to Bikrami calendar. Lohri is celebrated with a bonfire,singing a folk song, dancing to bhangra,eating many sweets that are made from sugarcane. According to Bikrami calendar, It is celebrated when month of Paus ends and new month, Magh,starts.It is also a festival of harvesting because the crops like sugarcane becomes to harvest. People give the respect to Dulla Bhatti with the singing a song and dancing.

Lohri festival is celebrated by Sikhs and Hindus in north india's states with a bonfire. Lighting of bonfire  is ancient  tradition. It is celebrated at the eve of the day. As the sweets ,Gurh and Gachak are made in the houses. Some children make the groups to collect logs for the bonfire before about 10 days of LohriDuring these days, children go form  door to door singing songs. These children are given to money or some other gifts.
